Casual Dining Report

To compete with the changing tastes of diners in a saturated market, the casual dining category requires true transformation and innovation grounded by a digital strategic framework focusing on the dining customer journey. Our favorite dining establishments of the past need to start understanding and catering to the customer before the decision to dine out is made and until the time the customer exits the restaurant.

Key Findings

  1. Buffalo Wild Wings leads the peer group.
  2. Red Robin and BJ’s Restaurant continue to gain ground digitally increasing the probability of higher future revenues.
  3. Darden is now being surpassed by some its competitors that have continuously improved their digital offerings.
  4. Texas Roadhouse is sitting on a strong trajectory where the company is in a position to invest and strengthen its digital presence or risk disruption.

Weighted Scorecard

Overall, the group has shown strong growth, but Trajectory indicates this space is ripe for disruption.
