It’s a Dip Party!
On Friday, February 5th, the Isobar Chicago office put their game faces on for the first ever Dip Contest to honor the best day of dips, the Super Bowl. We had fantastic participation, in total 13 dips were served up for the Chicago office to taste and vote on. The categories were: Best Flavor and Most Creative. There were several interesting recipes so the decision was a tough one. Participants thought outside the box and made some incredibly unique snacks such as Snickers Dip, Cookie Dough Dip and Chicken Liver Dip to name a few. Isobar provided an assortment of vessels for the taste test and participants were able to sample the treats all afternoon. The two winning dip recipes are below. Thanks to all who cooked for the competition and to those who came to taste!
Most Unique Dip: Marinated Cheese Recipe
1/2 cup Olive Oil
1/2 cup White Wine Vinegar
3 Tbl chopped fresh parsley
3 Tbl minced green onion
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 Tsp dried basil
1/2 Tsp salt
1/2 Tsp fresh ground pepper
3 cloves Garlic, minced
1 2oz jar pimiento, drained. Can substitute with roasted peppers.
1 block (8oz) sharp cheddar
1 package (8oz) cream cheese, chilled/frozen
Combine first 10 ingredients in jar, cover tightly, shake vigorously
Cut block of cheddar in half lengthwise. Then cut crosswise into 1/4 inch slices and set aside.
Repeat with cream cheese. Arrange slices alternately in shallow baking dish, standing slices on edges. Pour marinade over cheese slices. Cover and marinate in refrigerator at least 8 hours.
Transfer cheese slices to serving platter, and spoon marinade over cheese slices. Serve with Triscuits.
Best Flavored Dip: Jalapeno Popper Dip
2 8-oz packages of cream cheese, soft
1 cup of mayonnaise
4-6 jalapeno’s, chopped and deseeded. The seeds will make it fiery hot.
1 cup of cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/4 cup diced green onion
1 cup of crushed crackers ( I used Ritz)
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 stick of butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350.
Combine all of the ingredients into a medium bowl. Stir well.
Transfer to an oven proof dish.
Combine the topping ingredients and sprinkle all over the top of the dip.
Bake the dip for 20-30 minutes or until bubbly.
Serve with Ritz Crackers or Tortilla Chips
