CES Day 1 – A tour of the showroom floor

I’ve been to a number of conventions and expos in the past, but this is the first time I’ve been to CES.  Let me tell you, it’s intimidating.  The convention is huge.  So big it overflows out of the convention center and has taken over Las Vegas.  My first glimpse of it was just after getting off the plane.  There were lines near baggage claim where you could pick up your badges (I skipped this line because I assumed the lines would be shorter at the convention – I was right).    Two hours after getting off the flight I had checked into my hotel and was at the convention.  I walked into the first door I saw and was greeted by bright lights and a hoard of people.

CES 1

It’s hard to wrap your head around all the different “consumer electronics” categories there are.  And when you’re standing face to face with them, it doesn’t help.  But after wondering aimlessly for a bit…well it didn’t help much either but I did start to pick up some themes.

Curved Tvs (there were a lot of these and they are much cooler in person than you might think).

CES 2

Martian space suits (as far as I know, there was only one of these).

CES 3

The new Tesla

CES 4

And a giant phone!  (or maybe just a touch screen table – but I’m sure it could be used as a phone)

CES 5

In summary, there is a lot of everything at CES and I’m ready for day 2!
