Isobar Chicago, hosted another volunteer event with Upwardly Global, a national non-profit that works to eliminate employment barriers for skilled immigrants and refugees by teaching them the distinction of searching for a job in United States verses their home countries. Upwardly Global staff and 12 job seekers from various countries around the world came to our Chicago office to participate in mock interview sessions with Isobar employees. During the mock interviews, Isobar volunteers focused on providing job seekers specific feedback on structuring their answers, so it reflects what employers look for during actual interviews. Through this process, job seekers learned how to adjust interview practices they learned back home to what is required in the United States. As Isobar continues to grow, mock interviews provided good practice for volunteers who frequently get to interview potential candidates to join our office.

In the wake of the refugee crisis around the word, Isobar is extremely proud to support an organization that helps refugees and immigrants integrate in American society and live up to their potential. When immigrants and refugees get jobs in their field of expertise (e.g. engineering), they can exit their survival jobs (e.g. driving a taxi) and better provide for their families, as well as become more active members of their communities. Upwardly Global has been a long standing community partner for Isobar in the Chicago and we hope to continue working with them on other corporate social initiatives in the near future.
