Zombie Escape Room

The User Experience Designers and the Visual Designers in the Isobar Chicago office teamed up and participated in one of the latest crazes sweeping the US, live room escape games.

It is a concept where a group of people are locked in a small room filled with drawers, cabinets, random objects and lots and lots of locks. They have one hour to solve a series of puzzles and riddles that lead to an escape. This particular room had a twist, there was a Zombie actor attached to chains roaming around the room…a tag from the Zombie meant instant elimination.

The disorientation of an over stimulating room, the stress of the time pressure and the chaos dodging a zombie led to some absurdly amusing behaviors. Each team experimented with different team strategies and took on various roles until they found a system that worked. While some of team members distracted the Zombie, others focused on writing down clues and finagling locks. It was a good lesson in teamwork and the importance of communication!
