Isobar Good: Spread the Cheer This Time of Year

Food Drive 2

In the spirit of giving during the holidays, the Chicago GOOD committee organized a friendly Canned Food Drive competition.  The competition started on December 1st and ended on December 12th.  The office was broken into 7 teams amongst different disciplines to create an comradery between peers who normally might never work together.  For each food item brought in, a snowflake was hung on the corresponding team’s window.  At first, it was a slow start to the donations but by mid-week nearing the end of the competition the cans came flowing in by the box load.  Maybe it’s the possibility of a wonderful prize or maybe it’s the holiday spirit?  Either way, Isobar Chicago made their goal of 500 pounds of food to be donated to The Greater Chicago Food Depository.  This food bank is a nonprofit food distribution and training center that provides food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in the community.  Founded in 1979, they make a daily impact across Cook County.  Last year, the Food Depository distributed 67 million pounds of food!

Together, let’s CAN hunger!
