Isobar hosts morning conversation with Susan Szenasy

On Monday the 14th of April, Isobar Boston in partnership with AIGA Boston hosted a morning conversation with Susan Szenasy. Susan is Editor in Chief and Publisher of Metropolis magazine. She is currently on a national book tour promoting her new title Szenasy, Design Advocate: Writings and Talks by Metropolis Magazine Editor Susan S. Szenasy.

Susan is also a long time advocate of sustainability as it pertains to all facets of the design world. She began her talk by covering some of the high level points she has spoken passionately about for years. In true advocacy form though, she soon turned the tables on the assembled audience by directing the conversation and focusing it on our combined efforts as it pertains to sustainability, ethics, and most pointedly, the decisions we make every day as designers that can impact our world at large. The topics ranged from innovation communities, urban development, behavioral change as impacted by experience and user design, and even sneaker manufacturing in developing markets.

It was clear that Susan was not just on a book tour, but on a national fact finding mission to see what kinds of strides the design community is making in these important areas effecting our society. The event was a great success, and really highlighted the power and potential we all hold as designers.
